We live in a world clogged with content. Every day, we are impacted by the stories we read, the images we consume, and the ideas we absorb. That is why it is important to surround ourselves with works that are good, true, and beautiful.

My goal as an artist and teacher is to help students critique the stories and images they encounter and create excellent work. Through creative writing and art, students develop imagination, technical skill, confidence, and the ability to analytically interact with the world around them.

As the saying goes, “You are what you eat.” And I would argue this is almost more true for the mind than it is for the body. The classical model of teaching allows the students to first ingest the great works, learning how something is done masterfully. Then, the student builds upon those principles creatively, utilizing them for self-expression.

Whether through teaching or creating, my passion is to work with excellence following the principles of goodness, truth, and beauty.
