Verses:
Ephesians 6:14: Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness…
Thoughts:
The assassination of Charlie Kirk has been heavy on my mind this past week. Charlie was a loving father, an amazing husband, and a good man.
His assassination is one of the biggest moments of history that I have experienced in my life. I saw for the first time the life of a man leave him. A man I had seen not two years ago speaking at the UCF campus. A man that I had listened to and enjoyed. A man that I loved as a brother in Christ. A good man. A loving father. A faithful servant of Christ.
We can rejoice that he has now received the crown of life. He is at peace in heaven. He has truly earned the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant” (Matt. 25:23).
But here on this earth we still have a war to fight. A spiritual and potentially physical war.
Charlie’s death was not only a political assassination, but also an attack on the foundational tenets of Christianity: unity, truth, goodness, and first and foremost God.
Charlie went to campuses and spoke the truth. He explained with logic. He sought to draw those around him unto Christ. I don’t agree with every little thing he said, but his overarching message was one that fought for God and for the foundational rights of our country. His murder was fueled by a hate for that which is good.
In no world is it right to murder a man, and to rip a loving father away from his family. His assassination was jarring, though not shocking. As Christians, we are told that we will be persecuted, that we will be rejected, that the world hates us.
These past years, Christians have been blessed with a time of religious peace in America. But, this peace may have made us lax.
We must fight the good fight of faith. Death is real. We all are going to die. If we live
for ourselves, we lose everything at death. Living for ourselves is the ultimate loss. Charlie did not live for himself. He lived for others. He sacrificed himself for others. And because of that his death has shaken America.
Conclusion:
Charlie is a follower of the Lord, struck down in the service of the King. A time is coming if not already here in America where Christians may have to physically fight for what we believe. At the very least, we must be bold in speaking the truth. We cannot grow complacent. In every age, the Enemy attacks goodness, truth, and beauty. Be ready to make a defense and keep your eyes set on the Lord, the solid foundation.
Ask Yourself:
Are you running the good race? Will you be worthy of the words “Well done my good and faithful servant”?

Well written. Charlie’s death was a wake up call for many.
Great words about some intense sadness we have experienced this week. The time is near when we American Christians may have to experience persecution as our Christian brothers and sisters have through the years. I pray we will be found faithful. Thank you for reminding us, Abigail.
